My Services

Proofreading

Proofreading occurs after the text has passed through all the editing stages and is ready to publish – that is, it’s either submission-ready (if you’re publishing in a journal, for example), or it’s been type set and is ready to publish/print. A proofread will search for any typos, grammar mistakes, formatting issues, or other errors that managed to squeak through the editing stages.

Copyediting

Copyediting is more invasive than proofreading and occurs at an earlier stage. Typos, spelling, and grammar mistakes are corrected, and, depending on the level of invasion you want, text can be rewritten for clarity and/or style. A copyedit will also identify and correct any inconsistencies (in, e.g., spelling, word usage, and formatting) within the text, and if desired, can include fact checking. (Though, if it matters to you, you will consider engaging a dedicated fact checker to go over your document independently.) If your text needs to conform to a certain house style, that is also done at this stage.

Answer Checking

I also offer answer checking services for mathematics, physics, and astronomy educational material at primary and secondary school levels and for undergraduate courses.

How it works.

My fee is determined based on the scale and scope of the work. After establishing what you’re looking for, I will provide a free short sample edit (~1000 words) of representative text and will come up with a project fee for the rest based on that edit. If you agree to the fee, work time line, and terms of service, then we will proceed.
